Porsche is shaking things up for the Cayenne's 2024 mid-cycle refresh, which sees various trim levels and powertrains get shuffled around. The latest addition to the SUV's updated lineup, the Turbo E-Hybrid, is also the fastest one––fast enough to become Porsche's quickest SUV of all time. It replaces the regular Turbo variant, adding an upgraded plug-in hybrid system that results in huge power upgrades over its predecessors.

The Cayenne's previous plug-in power monster, the Turbo S E-Hybrid, produced 670 hp, an impressive number for its own right. The 2024 Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, however, pumps out even more power with its overhauled 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8, which generates an impressive 591 hp by itself. But in order to one-up the old Turbo models, the Turbo E-Hybrid pairs its V8 with a 174 hp electric motor, which gets its power from a larger 25.9 kWh battery pack stuffed below the trunk. The result is a grand total of 729 hp, which allows the SUV to lunge from 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds before reaching a top speed of 183 mph.

While numbers are one thing, a true performance car must also prove itself among the tarmac's inevitable imperfections. This high-performance Cayenne keeps its ride balanced with a standard adaptive air suspension, with features two-chamber, two-valve technology that allows for separate compression and rebound adjustability. This in turn enables more control over the SUV's ride quality. Also standard is Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, along with optional Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control and rear-axle steering.

When its V8 isn't snarling to warn the everyday SUVs of its superiority, the Turbo E-Hybrid communicates the 729 horses that lurk inside with its Turbo-specific styling. The look includes enlarged front air intakes on the front fascia with a gloss black finish, which contrasts with the SUV's sporty paint-color lower fascia. Those who look extra closely will also notice the SUV's red brake calipers, along with dual exhaust pipes finished in brushed aluminum. The Turbo E-Hybrid also comes standard with Porsche's HD-Matrix Design LED headlights.

The exclusive look continues inside, as the Turbo E-Hybrid adds alumunim trim elements, a Race-Tex headliner, and a standard GT Sport steering wheel that features a unique drive mode button. Passengers in front get to enjoy the SUV's standard 18-way adjustable leather Sports seats, which can be switched out for 14-way Comfort seats.

The 2024 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid will be available in both SUV and Coupe body styles when it arrives at U.S. dealers in spring 2024. The SUV opens things up at a dizzying $148,550, while the sportier-looking coupe will set buyers back even more at $153,050. These prices include destination fees.
