Recreating old icons is a trend that has grown to prevalence in the auto industry, and Audi is jumping onboard with the 2025 RS6 Avant GT. It's a limited-production variant of the brand's wild performance wagon, harkening back to the Audi 90 Quattro IMSA GTO that graced the racetracks through the late 1980s and early 1990s.
The wagon stands out with its colorful livery and eye-catching white wheels, but these obvious details hide some more significant changes. The Avant GT has a whole new grille up front, with a gloss black finish for the air intake. It's underlined by an exaggerated front splitter, and the GT also dons a new hood and reshaped front fenders consisting of carbon fiber. The fenders feature cutouts towards the back to reduce air pressure and cool off the brakes. At the rear, there's a huge double wing that resembles the one on the 1989 Audi 90 Quattro IMSA GTO race car.
As for those aforementioned decals, there are actually three different designs on offer. The first is the one pictured here, incorporating Arkona White along with shades of black, gray, and red from Audi Sport. The other two designs feature Nardo Gray and Mythos Black, while the wheels are finished in either gloss or matte black.
There are changes inside as well, with the RS Design Package Plus now marked as standard. It pairs black upholstery with distinctive red and copper contrast stitching on the steering wheel, seats, and floor mats. Elsewhere, the standard Avant's front bucket seats have been supplanted with carbon fiber ones.
Things are the same under the hood, but we're not complaining. The wagon's powerful twin-turbocharged 4.0 liter V8 engine delivers 621 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque, and that power is sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic. The Avant GT also shares its locking center differential with the standard Avant, though the Quattro Sport rear differential has been retuned. This model also comes equipped with adjustable coil-over shocks.
Only 660 examples of the RS6 Avant GT will be made, and unlike the regular Avant, the final assembly for this special edition will be done be hand. Only 85 of these wagons are headed for the United States, and folks in Canada are only getting seven. While North American pricing hasn't been announced yet, the German model is listed at a whopping $235,000 at current exchange rates.
