While Genesis hasn't been around for that long, it's already made its mark as a fashionable luxury brand, capable of dethroning even the established Germans. And with coupe SUVs all the rage in the luxury car market, you know it was only a matter of time before Genesis hopped on that bandwagon. That time has arrived, with the automaker debuting its new GV80 Coupe for Korean buyers, ahead of its launch in additional markets later on. The luxury brand is also using the arrival of the coupe to bring a host of adjustments to the existing GV80 SUV, which brings styling adjustments and an expansive 27-inch display inside.

The GV80 Coupe doesn't stray far from last year's concept, featuring a sloping roofline that spills into a distinctive ducktail rear spoiler. The whole design is much sportier than the regular GV80, with larger front intakes, exclusive quad exhaust tips, and glossy black flourishes across the lower half of the exterior. Bringing out the measuring tape will reveal that the coupe is one one inch longer than its SUV counterpart, thanks to an elongated rear overhang. It's also 0.2 inches lower, though that's due to its lack of roof rails. The rest of the coupe's dimensions, including its wheelbase and width, remain identical to the SUV's. Inside, the GV80 Coupe hopes that its flat-bottom steering wheel and aluminum pedals will make you forget about its shrunken cargo area.

The coupe's flashier design isn't all for show, however, as it offers a more powerful version of the SUV's 3.5 liter V6 engine. The V6 found in the coupe borrows a new 48V electric supercharger from the G90 flagship sedan, raising output to a more potent 409 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the GV80 SUV sticks with the regular turbocharged 3.5 liter V6 making 375 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque, while lesser models have a turbocharged 2.5 liter four-cylinder that makes 300 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque.

While the GV80 SUV does benefit from styling changes to match its new coupe variant, spotting the changes will require some squinting. The cleaner front end dons a slightly smaller grille, while the bumper adds shiny skid plates and larger intakes. Around back, the rear bumper ditches its fake dual exhaust tips, replacing them with a dark mesh pattern outlined by an intricate chrome design. While these changes do bring it more in line with the coupe, the blockier GV80 abstains from sportiness in pursuit of a more luxurious demeanor.

The GV80 models meet in the middle when it comes to colors and wheel designs. Each variant gets new 19-, 20-, and 22-inch alloy wheels, though the new designs differ depending on body style. Colors also vary for each model, with the coupe receiving an exclusive shade of Bering Blue, though all GV80s gain a new Storr Green option available in either a glossy or matte finish.

The real changes happen on the inside, where the GV80 forgoes its standalone display in favor of a trendier design that connects the infotainment display with the digital instrument cluster. Yeah, we've heard that sentence before. But the GV80 manages to keep some uniqueness by unifying those screens into a single 27-inch OLED display, which makes for a satisfyingly seamless look. Elsewhere, the steering wheel has been overhauled, losing its unique two-spoke design while adding a stylish two-tone color combination, and the center console benefits from larger cupholders, a redesigned controls panel, and a new wireless charging tray. Unfortunately, many physical controls have been replaced with touch-sensitive ones, and the climate controls have been migrated onto the touchscreen. But to make up for these slight downgrades, the GV80 continues to pamper its occupants with features such as four-zone climate control, heated armrests, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, a 14.6-inch rear passenger display, and a fragrance system.

While the updated GV80 and GV80 Coupe are only headed to Korea for now, North American and European customers shouldn't wait too long to see the new models arrive at dealerships.
