What's better than an Italian high-performance SUV with a twin-turbo V8 heart? One with two hearts. That's how Lamborghini is describing its new-for-2025 Urus SE, which hooks up the model's familiar eight-cylinder engine to an electric motor that brings power up to nearly 800 hp.
Under the hood, the SE's twin-turbo V8 produces 612 hp on its own, which slightly undercuts the nonhybrid Urus's 657 hp. There's a chance that Lamborghini is planning a higher-performance Urus hybrid that could unlock additional power from that V8. That's not to say the power here isn't enough, though, as a 189-hp electric motor mounted to the eight-speed automatic transmission brings it to a total of 789 hp and 701 lb-ft of torque. The SUV thrusts from 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, which sits perfectly in between the nonhybrid Urus S and Urus Performante.
Aside from the extra power, the electric motor allows the SE to travel up to 30 miles on electric power alone, with juice coming from a battery pack with a yet-undisclosed capacity. Top speed is capped at 81 mph in EV-only mode, though with the V8 engine activated this Urus can reach speeds of up to 194 mph.
The SE also introduces a mild facelift for the Urus. The hood now extends further out towards the redesigned front grille, and that's all flanked by a pair of restyled headlights with thinner DRLs on either side. The rear end has also been cleaned up significantly, which Lamborghini says takes some inspiration from the Gallardo. Two new exterior colors––Arancio Egon and Bianco Sapphirus––join the Urus SE's 100-plus color palette, alongside some new designs for the 23-inch wheels. The changes continue inside, where a reconfigured dashboard houses a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen featuring Lamborghini's latest infotainment.
Lamborghini also made some tweaks to the aerodynamics, which are said to enable better cooling for the braking system. A revised spoiler and rear diffuser are also said to improve downforce by 35 percent.
The Urus SE won't come cheap when it hits the market, as Lamborghini says it will blow wallets to smithereens with a starting price of $258,000.
