Acura's long-standing, two-pronged SUV lineup consisting of the RDX and MDX has been sorely lacking a smaller, cheaper entry. Luckily, the brand has confirmed that it will finally introduce an entry-level crossover to its lineup later this year, and it will join refreshed versions of the RDX and MDX. The new crossover will compete with the likes of the Audi Q3, BMW X1, Mercedes GLA, and Lexus UX.

Designated as a "gateway" product, the new SUV will be aligned directly with the Integra, which is currently positioned as the brand's entry-level sedan. As a result, the SUV will most likely use the same platform that underpins the Integra, along with the similarly-sized Honda Civic and Honda HR-V. The subcompact HR-V will likely be the closest relative to Acura's new SUV, just as the RDX and MDX complement Honda's CR-V and Pilot.

A Small Acura SUV Is Coming Later This Year

Acura's SUV announcements aren't solely concentrated on just one model, however, as the existing RDX and MDX crossovers are due to receive significant upgrades this year as well. Starting with the compact RDX, the changes in store for the 2025 model year will mark its second refresh, as this generation was first updated for 2022. We're expecting light exterior changes to mirror the Integra and the upcoming subcompact SUV, and Acura has confirmed the long-overdue adoption of a touchscreen infotainment system. Yes, this means the brand's frustrating touchpad controller is finally on its way out.

The larger MDX is expected to receive similar updates, including enhanced styling and a more intuitive touchscreen layout inside. Acura has also confirmed that the three-row SUV will add a new Bang & Olufsen premium sound system, as part of a move that started with the all-electric ZDX. While we're at it, Acura has also announced that the ZDX is due to hit dealers later this month.

We're expecting more details on Acura's updated SUV lineup to emerge later this year.
