Honda has revealed a somewhat unexpected refresh for the Civic, which brings new exterior styling and new wheels for both the sedan and hatchback. We say "somewhat" because the compact car also sees the addition of a hybrid variant, something Honda had previously confirmed was on its way.

Exact powertrain details for the hybrid haven't yet been revealed, though we expect Honda to dive into the full specs closer to the model's launch this summer. We do know that the overall setup won't stray too far from the ones found in the Accord and CR-V hybrids, though the electric bits could be paired up with a 1.5 liter engine rather than the larger 2.0 liter inline-four.

Honda says it will also rearrange the Civic's trim lineup to match the latest Accord and CR-V. That means certain models will be available exclusively as non-hybrids, while others––mainly the more expensive trims––will pack the hybrid powertrain as standard. Honda hopes that the hybrid-only Civics will stand for about 40% of Civic sales.

While Honda only provided a couple of pictures of the refreshed Civic, they provide a glimpse of the higher-end Sport Touring model, which will be among the hybrid-only models as indicated by the badge on its liftgate. It serves as a preview for the cosmetic changes coming to all Civic models for 2025, which consist of a redesigned front bumper, tweaked front grille, and some eye-catching new wheel designs. Inside, Honda promises an array of new features, though we don't know what that means just yet.

The 2025 Civic Hybrid will begin arriving as U.S. dealers this coming summer, alongside the gas-powered models, which will likely continue to offer either a 2.0-liter inline-four or a 1.5-liter turbo-four.
