While there are no plans for another WRX STI from Subaru, you can at least pick up a hint of what remains of the performance division with this 2025 WRX tS. The tS badge stands for "tuned for STI," and the sedan features upgrades to the suspension, brakes, and interior.

First and foremost, STI has added new electronically-controlled dampers with Comfort, Normal, and Sport settings, pairing this setup with a six-speed manual for the first time. Previously, these dampers were reserved for the WRX GT and its mandatory automatic transmission. The WRX tS also boasts a high-performance braking system from Brembo, which features six-piston calipers in the front, two-piston calipers in the rear, and larger pads and rotors.

On the outside, the tS is recognizable for its special badging on the trunk and a gold finish for the brake calipers, but otherwise it resembles any other WRX. More astute observers will also note the Crystal Black Silica finish for the side mirrors, rear spoiler, and shark-fin antenna, along with the satin gray 19-inch wheels wrapped in 245/35 Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires.

Inside, the tS throws away the sedan's standard analog gauges in favor of a 12.3-inch digital setup, and gains Recaro bucket seats wrapped in black synthetic suede with eight-way power adjustment for the front passengers. "WRX tS" lettering is embossed on the front seat headrests and floor mats, while the start button is adorned with the STI badge. There are also bright blue accents found on the steering wheel, door panels, seat bolsters, and shifter. Absent from this interior is the moonroof, which has been removed from the tS to save weight and increase headroom.

Under the hood, the tS is powered by the same turbocharged 2.4 liter four-cylinder engine that motivates the rest of the WRX lineup. Since there are no changes, it continues to churn out 271 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque for all four wheels.

Pricing for the 2025 WRX tS will be announced later this year, before the special-edition sedan hits dealers in early 2025. We expect the price tag to surpass that of the standard model, which means buyers could be paying upwards of $40,000.

While some parts have been tuned by STI, we're still awaiting a new full-blown performance model.
