The current GLC is in its first generation, having gone through a few minor tweaks since 2016, when it replaced the unpopular GLK SUV. Now, 4 years later, it needs to catch up. A prototype has been spotted by Motor1 in Germany, and it is noticeably bigger, with headlights resembling the EQC, its electric counterpart. This version could be a seven-seat option, which could help attract more buyers. The GLS, their only proper three row SUV, does not always fit into buyer's budgets with its just-under-$100K price tag.
The new version could take after the new GLB, which is smaller, yet it does have an option for seating seven. The side mirrors are now in a different location, and the roofline looks like a Range Rover. The possibly roomier interior could help it compete in its growing segment. This is one of the ten new Mercedes models coming by 2022.
Expect it to arrive in 2022, with hybrid and/or plug-in hybrid options, with the coupe and AMG versions coming later. The currently strange headlights and taillights could change, as this is an early prototype.
