Amazon's New Rivian Van Caught At Work In Denver Area

Amazon is moving away from their old Ram ProMaster delivery vans in favor of their new electric Rivan-made Amazon vans. One of the first examples was found delivering packages in Denver, and it sounds like something coming out of Nintendo.

A few years back, Amazon made a $700 million deal with the electric startup company Rivian, who will also produce the R1T truck and R1S SUV. Amazon ordered 100,000 of these delivery vans, and all of those vans will be on the road by 2030. Meanwhile, we'll see 10,000 of them by 2022 or earlier, which makes this van one of the first operating examples.

This van is apparently a test vehicle, and the driver was with an engineer, who told the person behind the camera that the van is "designed to offer enough range to cover an average delivery route and cut costs". The van doesn't have any camouflage, but that is probably because it was delivering Amazon packages to customers.

This is not the sound we expected from a delivery van. The average electric car only has a slight hum sound to it. The person who filmed the video said he could hear the van from inside his house. If the sound was a bit quieter, it would definitely be more enjoyable. Hopefully it's just the video that makes the sound so loud.
