Cadillac Escalade-V To Be Revealed In Full This May

Last month, Cadillac released several images of its first high-performance SUV in years, the Escalade-V. It will square up against full-size performance SUVs from BMW, Alpina, and Mercedes, which have all enjoyed relatively easy competition for too long. Cadillac has announced that full details on the more powerful Escalade, like interior specs and performance figures, will be released on May 11.

The Escalade-V will be the first Cadillac sport utility to actually put the 'V' in 'SUV', joining the CT4-V Blackwing and award-winning CT5-V Blackwing in Cadillac's performance range. We don't know for sure, but we're hoping to see the CT5-V Blackwing's smile-inducing 6.2 liter V8, as the CT4's 3.6 liter V6 would be too small for such a large SUV. The interior will also be tweaked to fit in with the sporty ethos of a Cadillac V, likely replacing the standard Escalade's polished wood trim with carbon fiber and chrome. Like almost every other performance car, a sport steering wheel will likely be fitted. The standard Escalade's impressive curved OLED touchscreen display isn't going anywhere, though whether or not the V will feature Super Cruise is hard to say. Customers will be purchasing the Escalade-V for its power, and hands-free driving does not fully deliver that.

We still have a few months to go before we know everything about the Escalade-V, but when May 11 does arrive, you will be able to view the reveal from Cadillac's website.

Are you excited for the first-ever Escalade-V, or will Europe still reign supreme?
