While scrolling through press images of the all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning‘s modern interior, we spotted an image of a very simple-looking F-150 at the corner of the SYNC 4 touchscreen, which appears to be some sort of integrated profile picture, and it may have accidentally been leaked. Ford only released more expensive F-150 Lightning trim levels during the reveal, and a more commercial-focused base trim is apparently on its way. The standard F-150 has always offered a very basic commerical version of their F-Series trucks, and the F-150 Lightning is expected to join them. But let‘s get to the point: we think we just found the F-150 Lightning‘s base trim.
We can see that it is the electric version according to the unique connected headlights, as well as a lack of fog lights on the front bumper. The gas F-150 has fog lights on all trims, but the Lightning does not. It is evident that this is the base/commercial variant because of the white exterior color, which is one of the few available colors on any commercial vehicle from Ford and GM, and the black bumpers and accents. It is a very basic look, and no other F-150 looks like this.
We don’t know when the commercial F-150 Lightning will surface, but the reveal definitely won’t be a big deal (unlike the regular F-150 Lightning). We could see it when more details are revealed, or Ford might just quietly release it along with the configurator. We‘ll only be able to see if we’re right when the base F-150 Lightning officially releases.
