Jaguar has been struggling badly. Their XE and XF sedans don't sell, the redesigned XJ electric sedan has been delayed, Range Rover is taking the sales of their F-Pace and E-Pace crossovers, and their financial issues are't getting any better. Although their V6 and V8 engines are some of the best-sounding ones on the market, Jaguar's choices of survival are narrowing, and their I-Pace EV is doing quite well. Their best choice could be, sadly, to ditch their awesome engines and go all-electric.
The British automaker already wants to take a bite out of Tesla's sales, and their J-Pace and XJ EVs are in development (even though they're delayed), so it isn't a horrible idea. Jaguar doesn't seem to have to completely overhaul the brand, as a Tesla Model 3-sized compact car will replace the slow-selling XE and possibly XF.
Enthusiasts will be upset if Jaguar chooses this strategy, and their amazing engines, but it's for the better. Axing, selling, or relocating the well-known automaker are other choices, but Jaguar's employees seem to be quite happy with going pure EV.
