During Stellantis's 'Software Day' event, Jeep released a short video that gives us a glimpse of high-tech features we might see in the near future. The clip is called Path Connected, and it reveals quite a lot about the Jeep experience in the electric era.
After about 25 seconds of looking back at Jeep's 80-year history, including a few scenes showing the annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari, you'll begin to see several features coming to future Jeeps. Demonstrations of these new features largely feature the Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid, but you'll also catch the all-electric Wrangler Magneto concept from time to time.
The first feature shown is a subscription service called Jeep Trail, which will offer at least 6,000 pre-loaded off-road trails. Jeep Trail will likely be available to download on the Uconnect infotainment system, and will provide a digital map of the off-road trail selected by the occupants. Next up, over-the-air updates are finally set to make their way to the Jeep brand. The video says the OTA updates will be "continuously and effortlessly enhancing your Jeep's 4x4 technology." Group Ride is another interesting perk, which allows drivers to locate and communicate with fellow Jeep owners. Other Jeep drivers are identified through their Jeep 4x4 Profiles, and the driver is provided to the options to either view their profile, or send them a friendly Jeep Wave. Group Ride can even locate other users anywhere, even without cellular connection. Speaking of profiles, a Jeep 4x4 Profile allows users to share their cool aftermarket upgrades with other Jeep owners, as well as their own 'off-road achievements.' For extra privacy, the owner can choose whether certain stats are private or public. The last feature is an augmented reality head-up display, which will expand on Jeep's current HUD displays with more information and a clearer setup.
We are excited over the future of Jeep technology, as it looks to connect owners with their Jeep communities. We don't expect every feature to release exactly as shown today, however, as Jeep simply called them "ideas."
What do you think of these upcoming features?
