McLaren's 570S had its run. The new Artura hybrid supercar is coming on February 16th, and a new teaser video hints at its sleek design. McLaren calls the reveal at its Woking, England headquarters a "spectacular showcase".
According to the teaser, the Artura will borrow its design from the 570S, 720S, and GT performance cars. The profile mimics the sleek looks of the other Sports Series models, while the headlights follow the lead of the 720S. The 765LT, Speedtail, and Senna have a similar look. The taillights look like the GT. More unique design elements include the mesh grille in the rear with large exhaust pipes.
The Artura replaces the 570S, 570GT, and 600LT, practically the whole Sports Series lineup. Although the current trio of sports cars sport a 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8, this hybrid supercar will have an all-new V6 engine. The hybrid system is new as well. Over 600 horsepower is expected from the V6, making it much quicker than the 570S. The exhaust note sound amazing, too.
The Artura could be the beginning of the end of McLaren's numerical naming system, since the only cars that ever used real names were Ultimate Series vehicles like the Senna, Elva, and Speedtail. The new Artura is not only more powerful than the car it replaces, but it will come with a much heftier price tag. We'll find out more about the new Artura when it debuts next week.
