When Porsche adds the GTS badge to a new model, it's probably going to be the best version yet of that car. This trim level, which mixes performance with everyday usability, has finally made its way to the Taycan electric grand tourer for 2022. Sportier styling, improved performance and a delicious new red exterior color are among the GTS enhancements.
The 2022 Taycan GTS wears a SportDesign front fascia, and gloss black is applied to the side skirts and window trim. The rear diffuser inlays are painted in an even glossier shade of black, while the rear badging wears a matte finish. Also in black are the 20-inch Turbo S Aero Design wheels, exterior mirror bases, and the Porsche logo below the rear LED light strip. The headlights feature an LED Matrix design with PDLE Plus. Of course, they are tinted in black.
The main suspension setup and performance features are taken from the most expensive Taycan, but the tuning and calibration have been tweaked exclusively for the GTS trim. The Taycan GTS's braking system shares its calipers with the 4S trim, albeit the bigger front rotors, which now measure 390 mm. Standard performance equipment includes adaptive air suspension with Smart Lift and active suspension management, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, and the Sport Chronograph package. The Sport Chronograph Package includes a GT Multifunction steering wheel and drive mode dial. Additionally, the Porsche Electric Sport Sound system has been made louder than before, and can be heard from the inside and the outside. Most of the optional equipment has been updated to improve responsiveness as well. This includes available surface coated and ceramic composite brakes, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport, and rear-axle steering. 21-inch RS Spyder Design rims serve as one of the few optional design packages, and are finished in satin black. To add more luxury to the interior, you can also opt for a panoramic roof with Variable Light Control. This feature can adjust the light that enters through the glass with nine liquid crystal film segments, which can be activated on demand via the touchscreen display. Four presets are included: clear, matte, semi, or bold. When the vehicle is off, the roof automatically switches to matte, and remembers the previous settings when it is turned on again.
When the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo first debuted, it was sold exclusively with SUV styling cues to attract more buyers. The sportier GTS takes away those bulky fenders and side skirts, revealing a sleek-looking Porsche wagon called the GTS Sport Turismo. Even better, the Taycan GTS Sport Turismo keeps the Cross Turismo's versatility, with the same rear cargo volume as before. It also keeps the base version's glass roof with bike mounts in back for even more practicality. Roof rails are an option. The roof spoiler is now painted in the body color, and the cladding on the wheel arches has been removed. The ride height has also been lowered to match the Taycan GTS sedan, which maximizes air flow and good looks.
The Taycan GTS sedan will start at $131,400, while the GTS Sport Truism will cost you $133,300. A $1,350 fee for delivery, processing and handling is not included in the pricing. EPA ratings will be announced closer to the release date in the second quarter of 2022.
