Some of Subaru's models are in need of a refresh, especially the BRZ and WRX performance models. The BRZ is, in fact, getting a redesign, along with its twin, the Toyota 86. We just don't know when. Now, a slightly blurry chart has surfaced, revealing everything Subaru is planning on doing up until 2023.
First up, the BRZ is to arrive in spring 2021, which isn't that far from now. It will reportedly receive a respectful power increase, along with updated tech and styling. The Toyota 86 should come around that time period as well. Following the BRZ is a new Wilderness off-road trim coming to the Outback and Forester crossovers that same spring. We also see a Forester facelift, which is surprising considering it is still relatively new. That is also in the cards for spring 2021.
Coming in fall of 2021 is a new WRX sport sedan. It is currently based on the Impreza that roamed the Earth from 2011 to 2015. In other words, it is very outdated. It should receive all new resources from the ground up, along with a fully digital infotainment screen that leaked recently. It should become a separate model from the Impreza as the next generation Impreza is slated for 2023. A hotter WRX STI is to arrive at dealer lots in 2022.
The spring of 2022 is to open up with the exciting arrival of Subaru's first EV crossover, reportedly named Evoltis, that will be jointly built with Toyota's upcoming EV models. It should carry a range of over 300 miles. In early 2023, a new Crosstrek crossover and its new Wilderness variant is coming to follow the redesigned Impreza. Summer of 2022 should see a new Ascent SUV.
