VW Has A New Tiguan Coming

The new Tiguan hasn't been officially revealed yet, nor has it been announced. But, several spy shots give lots of evidence that VW believes that it can bring more from the Tiguan. Yes, the Tiguan was updated very recently, but car brands find new ideas and constantly feel the need for something new. Besides, it is auto show season. So, here it is; the leaked image.

It basically has the same shape as the current model, but with a sharper, nicer front end. The day running lights extend the grille lines, which is a key VW design cue. The vehicle seems to be wearing a more high end trim, so lower trim levels would not have as many silver chrome lines as this test car. The headlights also are completely revised, showing style that is similar to the newly redesigned Golf hatchback. The grilles and fog lights are all different as well. The rear, interior, and various other details haven't been seen yet, which is actually a good thing. The interior may hold slight trim changes like a bigger infotainment screen. The rear will have a similar amount of chrome like the front, probably having different taillights.

This image reveals that the rear is not changed much. The front is the biggest part of the update. VW reportedly stated that they would turn the Tiguan into a crossover coupe, but that just might be a special edition model. This image likely shows either the highest trim level or possibly the newly anticipated R Line. (The interesting wheels are evidence.) The person in this image is probably taking an official image that may show up at the reveal, or on the website. Here is a spy shot below.

The light camouflage actually hides the front very well. The camouflage is reduced because nothing has changed so much.

Also, VW is to release a small SUV (probably the size of the new Atlas Cross Sport) called the Tarek here in the US. It is described as 'smaller than the Tiguan' and will be based on the Tharu SUV in China. It will replace the Beetle in its Mexican plant. Sadly the Tarek will not be as iconic as the Beetle. The ID4 could have replaced it. It would be more iconic. The Tarek will probably look similar to this image of the Tharu crossover:

And the actual version is predicted to look like this rendering:
